New York Knicks point guard Stephon Marbury has been making dramatic statements on the basketball court since his childhood in Coney Island. Today, he’s making an even bigger statement. He’s saying athletic wear is grossly overpriced and you’re a chump if you pay “the man” $150 for a pair of shoes.

Marbury, a two-time NBA All-Star, has launched his own line of affordable athletic wear and shoes, dubbed Starbury. His signature Starbury One basketball shoes retail for a mere $14.98 and a complete “wardrobe” can be had for $100.
The Starbury line is available only at Steve & Barry’s, a value-conscious retailer with 130 stores nationwide.
According to Hip Hop Press, The Mastermind Group serves as the lead marketing agency on the Starbury Collection under the leadership of Principal Erin Patton, formerly director of the Jordan Brand at Nike for five years.
And here’s the best part…Marbury will wear his shoes on the court this season, proving that they are NBA quality. No ad campaign can buy that street cred.
