Catharine P. Taylor points out that Boston-based Modernista had a hand in creating BusinessWeek’s new print edition, which debuts tomorrow. That’s pretty cool, but I like it anytime an agency breaks out of the ad box.
The news got me to click over to the agency’s website and I found their mission statement prominently displayed.
We believe advertising is more an art than science and that truly great creative work is priceless in today’s cluttered market of partity products.
Our goal is to work with a select group of clients who love and appreciate great advertising as much as we do and who truly want our help building their brand.
I love it.
This is who we are.
Don’t even pick up the phone if you don’t share our values.
Modernista stands out as an agency that isn’t afraid to challenge clients, take real risks, and be picky. There is a definate reason why they’ve put such things as dead babies, floating eyeballs, and the demonic Lord Baphomet on their website over the years.
And they back it up. I’m recalling that they sued Rockport earlier this year for jerking them around.
Thanks everyone, for thinking so highly of our shop. We wrote that mission statement in about 10 minutes before we even opened our doors and it is helpful, even for us, to read it frequently to keep us on track as to why we are even in this business. We are far from perfect and a definite work in progress but are looking to get better and stay humble.
As for our websites, we see them as one of the few area’s where we can do what ever we want, since we are the clients and the approval process is quite simple. We look forward to pushing them even further and to attracting interesting, passionate people to come and help us build this place into something great.
