San Francicso Chronicle reports on a scary disturbance at eBay’s PayPal division.
Police cordoned off eBay’s campus in north San Jose on Wednesday while trying to find out who was responsible for a Halloween explosion that jolted a four-story office building housing PayPal, the auction company’s online-payment division.
The blast, set off at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in an outdoor walkway, shattered a heavy panel of glass on the first floor and activated smoke alarms. However, it did not cause a fire or injure any of the 45 employees and visitors who were in the building at the time, said San Jose police Sgt. Nick Muyo, a department spokesman.
“It was definitely not an accident. There was some kind of device,” Muyo said. “There was no advance warning, no threats, no indication there would be an event like this.”
