Nike is getting back to its roots and its advertising is benefiting from the shift.
I wish Nike was a better corporate citizen, but for this one moment in time, I’m setting aside my complaints about how Nike fails to pay vendors on time, fails to pay their share of taxes and fails to manufacture shoes in America.
When I put all that on a shelf, I can appreciate the ads again.
Right now, media is full of trauma and lies. Lifestyle brands are some of the only organizations on the planet offering something positive and inspiring. Instead of another anchor to sink one’s spirits, Nike is successfully building a will to fight and win in its customers, fans and athletes.
The positive vibration here and dose of fearlessness is needed and it is also brilliant advertising. Hat tip to the Masters of the Pearl. The ad business, like athletes, also needs this updated injection of badassery.
