Negative Stigmas About People Living With Mental Illness Are Depressing

Did you know that approximately 1 in 5 adults in the U.S., or 43.8 million Americans, experience some form of mental illness in a given year?

Struggling with depression and other mental health issues is almost as common as the common cold.

To encourage dialogue about mental health, Philadelphia-based creative agency Red Tettemer O’Connell + Partners has launched new work for Bring Change to Mind, a non-profit organization.

The campaign aims to break down barriers, helping young people feel more comfortable speaking out about their problems and reaching out to friends in need.

According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, people do not seek help because they are “shamed them into silence. But there’s good news. Stigma is 100% curable. Compassion, empathy and understanding are the antidotes.”
