So last night I went to the movies (saw “Slumdog Millionaire” which is excellent) and this played during the previews: A video promo for the National Guard, with a song called “Citizen Soldier” by 3 Doors Down.
You can see a better quality version here. On the big screen, it’s an amazing piece of video, combining the past and the present in stunning imagery. And a very interesting way to promote the National Guard. Plus, if you like the song, you can download it.

I agree it is a good ad, but it is almost offensive to me. For them to glamorize something so horrible–and the Civil War scenes? Are you kidding me??
I agree with Melissa, there’s something wrong with this video/ad. As for the song itself, it doesn’t make me think highly of 3 Doors Down, that’s for sure.
they played this when i took my kids to see BOLT. not sure that’s exactly the demo they were thinking of 😉
I saw a recent military one with Kid Rock – I think it is a slick ad campaign to get people excited for war. How much are they spending for the opposite campaign … I wonder.
