Delta Airlines is once again being pitched, according to Adweek:
Sources identified the contenders as Omnicom Group’s BBDO, Publicis Groupe’s Saatchi & Saatchi, WPP Group’s Ogilvy & Mather, Interpublic Group’s Deutsch in and independent Wieden + Kennedy. The latter is pitching from its Portland, Ore., headquarters, the rest from their offices in New York.
What’s interesting about that list is that BBDO’s Atlanta office, and agencies it merged with, had the Delta account for 50 years until 1997 or so. Since then, it’s been at Saatchi, Leo Burnett, SS+K, Brighthouse and perhaps one or two others. Why it’s been a bumpy ride for the last several years, I have no idea. But if BBDO gets it back, I doubt they’ll have it for 50 more years.
