According to Adweek, Virgin Atlantic Airways has placed its creative and media account, held by Crispin Porter + Bogusky, into review.
While the Miami-based MDC Partners agency was invited to defend, it will not participate in the review, the client confirmed.
“Commercial objectives require a new approach to strongly position our brand and service offerings in a competitive marketplace,” said Chris Rossi, Virgin Atlantic svp, North America, in a statement. “We look forward to aggressively building on our current growth and momentum as we move into this year.”
Didn’t Jay Chiat once say something like, “The only talent I had was for getting fired by clients”? Or something along those lines. Maybe it’s the defining characteristic of agencies that play close to the edge. For all the successes Crispin’s had, a lot of clients have up and left as well.
One of the best ever headlines for a blog post. Woot!
