AdImpact projects that the 2026 election cycle will reach $11.6 billion in spending, making it the most expensive on record. It’s hard for me to comprehend how large that number is. I know it’s the kind of money that could solve real problems in the world.
With the cost of our attention at an all-time high, the pressure is on for candidates to deliver a message that truly lands with the electorate and moves people to vote. Conditions on the ground, particularly economic conditions, will drive turnout more than any messaging, but it’s still critical to get the messaging part right. And I like what I’m seeing and hearing this year from Democrats running for US Senate in conservative states—I see messaging discipline, fighter energy, and a strong populist focus.
For instance, I like what I’m seeing and hearing from Angie Nixon in Florida.
And from James Talarico in Texas.
And from Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan.
And from Mary Peltola in Alaska.
And from Scott Colom in Mississippi.
