The “Making Of” Video Is An Art Form In Itself

I like how today’s recording artists promote their new albums with video content, especially if when it’s a documentary-like look behind the scenes.

This spot for Revelator, the new album from Tedeschi Trucks Band, to pick one recent example, does a good job of inviting fans in to the band’s world.

David Fricke of Rolling Stone says of the new album:

This meaty masterpiece is the debut of an 11-piece troupe co-led by guitarist Derek Trucks and his wife, singer-guitarist Susan Tedeschi. Revelator is also a turning point in Trucks’ odyssey, since adolescence, toward a deep soul laced with Indo-slide ecstasy. He and Tedeschi, a perfect vocal foil, now front the best Dixie-funk family band since Delaney and Bonnie Bramlett.

Indo-slice ecstasy, huh? Fricke is the master (commenting on the masters). I’ll take him at his word (and purchase the record).
