Swinging For The Green

USA TODAY reports on a unique promotion from Hilton Garden Inn, designed to increase customers length of stay.

Taking a swing at attracting business travelers who can’t stay away from their golf game, Hilton Garden Inn has partnered with 330 golf courses across the USA and Canada to offer free rounds. 13,000 Garden Inn guests used their vouchers in 2005, and the mid-price chain thinks it has a winner.
Garden Inn hopes a little promotional nudge like the free golf deal can motivate guests to extend their stays, says Tracy Gallagher, a travel expert working with Hilton to promote the deal.
To get the golf voucher, a guest has to stay at a Garden Inn on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday night between now and Oct. 22.

Some of the participating courses include Sanctuary Golf Course at Westworld in Scottsdale, Ariz.; Castle Creek Country Club in Escondido, Calif.; Landings at Spirit Golf Club in Chesterfield, Mo.; and Bow Creek Municipal Golf Course in Virginia Beach.
