The “Own It” campaign from RPA in Santa Monica strikes the right chord. It’s aspirational in tone and focused on the benefits more so than the features.

While the spots are made to sell software, they also promote the concept of running one’s own small business. I like how RPA positions the product as easy-to-use, especially when compared to the hard work people do day to day (crawling under houses, delivering baby horses, or riding 10 hours by van to the next gig).
By the way, small business is BIG business in America. According to Entrepreneur, small business provides 60% to 80% of the net new jobs annually, and account for:
- 52.6% of all retail sales
- 46.8% of all wholesale sales
- 24.8% of all manufacturing sales
