The economy blows, but revenue from digital advertising continues to soar. In fact, internet advertising revenues in the U.S. hit $7.88 billion for the third quarter of 2011, representing a 22 percent increase over the same period in 2010.
According to the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and PwC US, these figures also show a 2.7 percent uptick from the record-setting revenues of the second quarter of 2011.
“The ongoing increases in internet advertising revenues points to a new paradigm within the advertising world—one in which digital is taking a bigger seat at the table,” said David Silverman, a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
No doubt, it’s an exciting time. I’m curious, are you growing this piece of your business and seeing some of this $7.88 billion in your receipts? Speaking for myself, I make websites and add content to existing sites, but rarely do I prepare banner, search or social ads for clients.
