Carson Sloan and Luke Watkins, two graphic design graduates from the University of Delaware, are on a mission. They are also on a road trip.
Before we take that leap, before we accept that first job, and before we dive into the competitive world of design, we have one last class to take… call it an independent study. The classroom is three thousand miles of open road and the professor is anyone with an open door willing to give an hour of his or her time to talk design.
One of their more interesting stops was in San Francisco, where they met Zach Canfield of Goodby Silverstein + Partners.
The remarkable thing about Zach was his “do ANYTHING” approach to getting into Goodby, Silverstein & Partners; as well as, his date with Lady Sovereign story. At the time Zach began GBSP was receiving 500 resumes a day, and only 5 out of those 500 would be considered for employment. Zach’s willingness to do ANYTHING landed him a job moving furniture, but from there he was able to climb the ranks to Creative Coordinator.
