It’s 2019, but it in many parts of the U.S. it could be 1919 again.
A woman’s right to make her own choices about her health and her body is under widespread attack.
This year alone, 303 bills restricting abortion care have been filed in 47 states. Among those bills, 135 ban abortion in some or all circumstances. So far in 2019, nine U.S. states have passed laws of this type, and more states are considering similar legislation.

The cast from The Handmaid’s Tale are banding together to support a woman’s right to choose.
Ahead of Wednesday’s all-new episode, some of the stars from the hit series teamed up with HarpersBazaar.com and Planned Parenthood for a PSA about women’s healthcare in America with one clear message: “When we start restricting access to abortion, our country takes one step closer to Gilead.”
The Handmaid’s Tale is now in its third season on Hulu.
Author Margaret Atwood is at work on the book’s sequel. Penguin Random House said that the new novel is set to be published on Sept. 10, 2019. It’s called The Testaments and will take place 15 years after The Handmaid’s Tale left off.
