Berto O’Rourke is the punk rock candidate. He rides a skateboard, curses frequently and in his first debate with The Cruzmobile, he dropped a Clash reference on live TV when referencing his opponent.
He’s working for the clampdown and the corporations and the special interests.
He’s not working for the people of Texas.
Beto is the man. He’s refreshingly real. He’s also marching to the beat of his own drummer, but he’s not the only one. In fact, there’s another punk rock candidate in town—Hayden Pedigo, candidate for City Council in Amarillo, Texas.
Pedigo says too many small business owners are “getting bonked.” He doesn’t say (in the commercial) bonked by what or by whom or what he intends to do about it, once elected.
If he were playing by the rules, he would be faulted for that, but since he made up new rules, we will celebrate his creativity and ingenuity.
According to Mashable, Pedigo is tired of seeing his friends leave Amarillo for Austin or Portland because they “didn’t think Amarillo fit into the larger picture.”
He also said, “I think everyone in America is politically exhausted and I want this to be a breath of fresh air.”
