Yet Another Facebook Story: The Move To Madison Ave

Owen Thomas at VentureBeat reports that Facebook has leased two floors at 335 Madison Avenue, and may be planning to employ as many as 600 people in New York City.
There’s a lot of real estate to choose from in Manhattan, so is this move move also a statement of some sort? Normally, I would say no it’s not, but this is the same company, run by the same CEO who infamously declared in 2007 that Facebook will “help you create some of the best ad campaigns you’ve ever built.”
Bottom line, Facebook is an ad-supported business, so a NYC presence on Madison Avenue probably makes sense, even though a large part of the ad industry bailed on that particular address years ago.

About David Burn

I wrote my first ad for a local political candidate when I was 17 (she went on to win her race, and I felt the power of persuasive copy for the first time). Today, I live near Portland, Oregon and spend my days building brands for companies that matter.
