Tree Huggers Throw Some Punches

“Climate science has basically been at the receiving end of the best-funded, best-organized smear campaign by the wealthiest industry that the Earth has ever known—that’s the bottom line.” – Professor Michael Mann

The factors that ruin our air and drive the Earth’s temperature to dangerously high levels are also busy destroying our land and water. Take a look…

According to Rainforest Action Network the banking sector provided more than $2.5 billion in bonds and loans to the mountaintop removal coal mining industry last year. That money supports an industry that has destroyed hundreds of mountains in Appalachia and contaminated drinking water, compromising the health of thousands of Americans.

The advocacy group also reviewed 12 of the dirtiest corporate tax dodgers: Bank of America, Citi, JPMorgan, Wells Fargo, Chevron, BP, Shell, Exxon, Massey Energy, Alpha Natural Resources, Peabody Energy and Arch Coal.

These 12 banks, oil and coal companies are responsible for foreclosing on millions of people’s homes and polluting our air, water and climate. At the same time, we found that they pay next to nothing into a tax system that provides the very services that protect the homeless, the sick and our environment.

If this issue means something to you, be sure to see the new documentary film, The Last Mountain, in select theaters this spring and summer.

About David Burn

I wrote my first ad for a local political candidate when I was 17. She went on to win her race, and I felt the power of persuasive copy for the first time. Starting in Portland in 1995, I worked my way across the country as a copywriter and eventually became a content director making media products for big packaged goods brands. I returned to Oregon in 2008, and now I focus on building brands for companies that matter, including this one.
