For women, sex is mental. For women who read Harlequin romance novels, their boring, poorly dressed and out-of-shape husbands hardly exist. That’s the message in two new spots from BBDO Toronto and Someplace Nice director Pete Henderson for Harlequin.
Harlequin publishes 110 titles a month in 34 languages in 110 markets. So, why haven’t women read more than one title in the last five years? Why have they fallen out of love with their favorite romance novels?
Publishers and marketers are left to speculate over facts and figures.
But Harlequin is a fantasy peddler. Here they’re busy selling the idea that perfect romance is out there waiting for mature readers, whatever they’re into.
