Push Play: The BeanCast, Episode 192

I was honored to join Bob Knorpp for the recording of his excellent weekly marketing podcast last night.

Click here for the iTunes link.

I was joined by fellow guests John Wall, Co-Host of Marketing Over Coffee and Steve Wax, Co-Founder of Ladies And Gentlemen.

We discussed American Express’ mastery of social media marketing and customer service; the problem with content marketing on the mobile platform; the difference between influencers and endorsers and how brands need both; what Facebook’s new Timeline means for brands; Apple’s new product announcements, and more.

If you go to the 22-minute point in the show, Bob asks me what is it about mobile that is negatively affecting content consumption, and what we can do to combat that when we develop content maketing strategies? I said utility trumps entertainment on the mobile, and described Kraft Foods’ success with their recipe helper, and REI’s Snow Report, both of which I have on my phone.

It was a good discussion from there, and throughout in my opinion. I hope you’ll give the program a listen.

About David Burn

I wrote my first ad for a local political candidate when I was 17. She went on to win her race, and I felt the power of persuasive copy for the first time. Starting in Portland in 1995, I worked my way across the country as a copywriter and eventually became a content director making media products for big packaged goods brands. I returned to Oregon in 2008, and now I focus on building brands for companies that matter, including this one.
