Prospective Voters Are Hearin’ A Lotta Lip Flappin’

Are you planning to watch the Romney versus Obama debate on TV tonight? It’s not a prize fight, but the media enjoys that frame, since it adds action and excitement where there is none.

We need so much more from this process, and at the same time so much less of it. Meanwhile, Americans with something to add to the debate have formed Super PACs and put their own pitches on the air.

Look, here’s one from Tea Party Victory Fund:

I wanted to look away and resist posting this spot, but I couldn’t. It’s some racist bullshit and a telling indicator that real civic progress is a slow and arduous journey.

Let’s look at a more positive citizen-generated spot, shall we?

This one is from WeApproveThisMessage, “a group of independent Americans.”

As a student of American history, I am grateful to se this spot and I hope millions of others see it too. There’s nothing particularly revealing about it, but brushing up on our political history is key.

For instance, did you know that radical Republicans in the charge of the state of Utah are working to reclaim 20 million acres of federally protected land in the state, so they can open it to industry and commerce?

Teddy Roosevelt would be pissed.
