I Am 100% Serious About This Lack of Seriousness

I don’t know what digital work Lars Bastholm and crew are recognizing with a Lion at Cannes this week. But I do know a site that deserves an award. Big time!
SocialMediaDouchebag.net is not only strategically on point, it’s executed beautifully.
Let me share some of the site’s pithy copy (and advice for Social Media Douchebags everywhere):

  • Tip #425: Always include “Social Media Guru” in your Twitter bio. They won’t know unless you tell them!
  • Tip #128: Always tweet in all-caps. BECAUSE CAPSLOCK IS CRUISE-CONTROL FOR AWESOME!
  • Tip #864: It’s not SPAM, it’s advice people didn’t know they needed until YOU came along!
  • Tip #666: All links should point to your own tinyurl service which promotes your site first. YOU are the expert, remember!

I seriously doubt any copy at Cannes this year can stand up to that.

  1. do do from the beak of the bird, says:

when push comes to shove a rope and jump comes in front of the shark but behind all the whale poop, those of us who never joined facebook and twitter will be your heroes to follow because we can’t be found.

  2. Hi David – just wanted say thanks for the kind words. The Social Media Douchebag site made its rounds pretty quickly, and I was surprised at how many people were really having fun with it. I’m so glad people seem to be enjoying it as much as I enjoyed creating it. 🙂
