Dancing With Daffy’s

Daffy’s, a discount retail chain in the greater New York City area, has been known for its innovative and effective marketing from the store’s beginning in the 1960s. Back then, Daffy’s sold silver dollars for 88 cents. Today, with the help of New York agency, Johannes Leonardo, the company continues to push its own envelope.

Last month, Daffy’s staged live performances at the Ziegfeld Theater in Midtown Manhattan before screenings of the new film Amelia. I love brand theater and the surprise factor in this case is something the people in the audience won’t soon forget. My hat’s off to Daffy’s and their agency.

About David Burn

I wrote my first ad for a local political candidate when I was 17 (she went on to win her race, and I felt the power of persuasive copy for the first time). Today, I live near Portland, Oregon and spend my days building brands for companies that matter.
