Labor Day Isn't Just Another Day Off...

A blast from the past, courtesy of the International Ladies Garment Workers' Union:

Though outside of American Apparel, clothing made in the U.S.A, or by anyone paid over a dollar an hour, ain't all that easy to find these days...

I actually have a blouse that still has a union label in it. Still fits, still in one piece. That's hard work after 30 years. The American work ethic, right?

And I do know all the words to that song still, verbatim.

Funny or "isn't it ironic and mornic", thing about it, is that in 1977 I was actually working in a type of sweatshop. Owner was paying me 50 cents below minimum wage and I accepted it because she didn't take out taxes or social security. I'm guessing i was a domestic type contract employee on the books. Anyway, I needed the cash real bad to get into fashion design/home ec classes... in Iowa, yea, that high style, campaign state.
