Another Print Medium That Can’t Wait To Go Digital

Against the wishes of some local officials, Lamar Outdoor Advertising wants to roll out 10 to 15 high-tech digital display billboards in the Columbia, SC area within the next two years.
According to The State:

Lamar’s promotional materials say the new boards provide a higher quality image that is crisper and clearer than traditional billboards.
The new technology has been in use for about a year in other markets, including Hickory, N.C., and Atlanta. It provides still images similar to those seen on a computer or TV screen.
Each board can change images every six seconds. Also, because the billboards are digital, advertisers can alter their messages on a daily basis via computer.
