Another Example of Brand As Producer

Format Perspective is a new documentary film about skating produced by Carhartt WIP, the rugged wear brand’s European line extension.

Here are three promotional spots for the film:

Why another film about skating? Because European riders, graffiti writers, and MCs adopted the brand in the 1990s. A film about the scene is an acknowledgment of that fact and note of gratitude from the brand. One that reaffirms the bond between brand and subculture.

About David Burn

I wrote my first ad for a local political candidate when I was 17. She went on to win her race, and I felt the power of persuasive copy for the first time. Starting in Portland in 1995, I worked my way across the country as a copywriter and eventually became a content director making media products for big packaged goods brands. I returned to Oregon in 2008, and now I focus on building brands for companies that matter, including this one.

This totally rules.  Love that it’s tempered and artistically done, and not some over-the-top ‘cool guy’ piece.
