About David Burn

I wrote my first ad for a political candidate when I was 17 years old. She won her race and I felt the seductive power of advertising for the first time. Today, as head of brand strategy and creative at Bonehook in Portland, Oregon, I'm focused on providing affordable and effective integrated marketing solutions to mid-market clients.

  1. No Crayon?
    I’m surprised.
And isn’t Barbarian group more of a production company?

  2. so no one at campfire has any ego. weird.

  3. Who needs an ego when you are so damn good?

  4. Barbarian a production company?
    Uh, not quite.

  5. How is AKQA missing from that list?
And, in all fairness, Barbarian does a lot of production company-esque roles. From what I’ve heard, agency goes to them with vision, Barbarian does treatments, tweaks are made, stuff goes into production. Sounds a lot like agency/director/producer relationships to me.
Now, that being said, what I’ve heard could be wrong.

  6. @Yikes/Vince: I’ve used Barbarian Group for exactly the type of services Yikes outlines (project got killed, but that was their function in the creative process.) I gathered that was their MO. Vince- do you know otherwise?
@Yikes – the article specifically mentions that they excluded AKQA on purpose.

  7. Ah yes.
    Read first, post later.
    Thanks.

  8. Hey, thanks for using a frame from my amazing powerpoint on agency structure. It’s about time people recognized my brilliant insights in agency culture.
And I thought Crayon was a production company.

  10. If you know what Crayon actually does Steve, you are one up on me.
They do seem to get a lot of press though; that’s why I said I was surprised they weren’t on the list.

  11. just to get this one straight. it’s been bothering me.
campfire. no egos. got it. but what about ids and superegos?
